What this site is

UK Finance & Accountancy Tools is a free collection of calculators and plain-English guides for people in the UK who want to understand their money. Instead of a wall of jargon, you get a simple tool, the formula it uses, and the assumptions behind every result.

Why we built it

Tax and personal finance in the UK change every year — thresholds move, allowances change and new rates appear. Most advice online is either locked behind sign-ups, buried under ads, or written for accountants rather than the people the numbers actually affect.

We wanted a site where the numbers are transparent. Every calculator is driven by a single, data-driven tax engine. The rates are reviewed at the start of each tax year and link to the official GOV.UK and HMRC sources.

Our principles

  • Free and private. No sign-up, no account, no personal data collected by the calculators. Everything runs in your browser.
  • Show the maths. Every result explains how it was calculated and what it assumes.
  • Plain English. Guides explain the "why" as well as the "how".
  • Honest advertising. If the site carries advertising, it will be clearly labelled and never placed where it interrupts a calculation.

Who it's for

Employees, freelancers, small business owners, landlords and anyone doing the mental maths on a salary, a purchase or an investment. The tools are designed for the UK — England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland — with each calculator stating any regional differences (such as Scottish income tax or Welsh stamp duty rates).
